July 29, 2023 at 12:15 PM IST: Twitter updated its iOS app with a new logo, but at the time of writing, the app was still called Twitter. According to former Twitter engineer Eric Berlin, the reason the name hasn’t changed is because the App Store requires app names to be at least two characters long.
Twitter today updated its Android app, replacing the iconic bird logo with a new X logo. This is the latest step in an ongoing rebranding effort.
The company also updated its app listing on the Google Play Store to reflect the new branding, including screenshots of the app with a black background and the X logo. The social network strives to avoid Twitter branding in these screenshots.

“The X app is a trusted digital town square for everyone,” says the app description. The company also noted that users can upload and watch up to three hours of video in the app details. but, Twitter Blue support page Subscribers can upload videos up to 2 hours long.
Notably, the company’s Twitter Lite app still has all the Twitter branding. But that’s not surprising given that the app was last updated in May 2021.
Earlier this week, the social media company changed its official handle from @twitter to @x, and other related handles also dropped the “Twitter” name.Mr. Gene X Hwang, owner of the original @x and his corporate photography and videography studio orange picturestold TechCrunch that the company simply took over the steering wheel without any warning or compensation. In the letter, the company “expressed its gratitude” and offered Mr. Huang a tour of the X headquarters and X products.
