There’s nothing like using Siri to send messages to your contacts. Instead of typing large paragraphs, you can quickly dictate and send messages using Siri. However, Siri uses the Messages app to send that message. If you want to use a third-party app, you need to specify it as such in the command. Well, that’s in the past now. How to change Siri’s default messaging app
It’s very easy to change the messaging app that uses Siri to send messages. Please note that you cannot set WhatsApp, Telegram, or any other app as Siri’s default messaging app. There’s no direct way, but Siri will remember to select the app you selected as your default option next time.
Rather, you can change the Siri messaging app after you dictate or type your message. - Call Siri. In iOS 17, you can change “Hey Siri” to “Siri” to summon Apple’s virtual assistant.
- Now say “Send Message” and follow Siri’s instructions to read the name of the contact you want to send the message to.
- Next, dictate the message you want to send to your contacts.
- A message confirmation will appear at the top. From there, Message app icon.
- Click the Messages icon and choose the messaging app you want to use to send texts. Here you’ll see a list of third-party messaging apps and more.
- Finally, tap . Send button.
Once you’ve done this, Siri will notify you that the message has been sent. You can double-check this by going to your app of choice.
How to remove recommended messaging apps
You can use Siri to send messages using third-party messaging apps. That being said, you may still see and select apps that don’t support direct messaging. Siri will notify you of this by displaying a blank screen with no information, but you can also choose to remove the suggested app. This keeps your list organized and avoids confusion when sending messages using Siri. Here’s how:
- open settings app On your iPhone.
- tap Search with Siri Scroll down until you see the list of apps.
- Then tap the app you want to exclude from Siri suggestions.
- toggle off Use Ask Siri.
You can still use Siri to open the app, but no information will be sent to Apple to process your request. As a result, those apps won’t be suggested while sending messages.
