Have you ever subscribed to an app through your iPhone or iPad? Maybe it was a free trial that required a monthly fee to continue. Or maybe it was one of Apple’s own services, such as Apple Music or Apple Arcade, or a third-party app, such as a password manager or a music streaming service.
However you started the subscription, you can stop it easy enough. The process is quite quick, but you need to know where to click or tap before you can pull the plug. Here’s how to cancel a subscription from your iPhone, iPad, or computer.
Sign out of an app on iPhone or iPad
To view and cancel subscriptions through iOS or iPadOS, navigate to Settings, tap your username and select Subscriptions. Here you can view your active and expired subscriptions. Tap the active subscription you want to cancel, then tap Cancel subscription (or Cancel free trial). Crane To confirm and you’re done.
A service for which you already have a paid subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. If you have another free trial, the account will be closed immediately. If you have a free trial or a discounted trial, make sure you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial period. Otherwise, the subscription may automatically renew before the cancellation is processed.
If you change your mind about a subscription before or after its expiration date, tap the subscription you want to return and select a payment option. If the app offers multiple subscription options, choose the one you prefer. Confirm your changes to resubscribe.
When you subscribe to an app, Apple generates a random subscriber ID that is unique to you and the developer. If you cancel your subscription to an app and don’t resubscribe within 180 days, your subscriber ID will be reset.
You can also cancel a subscription via the App Store on your iPhone or iPad. Open the App Store app and tap your profile icon in the top right. On your account page, tap Subscriptions and then select the active subscription you want to cancel.
Press Cancel subscription link and confirm your decision. The subscription will then be canceled and your access revoked at the end of the billing cycle. If you want to subscribe again, the service listed with the different subscription options will remain visible.
Cancel Apple Music from within the app
If you cancel Apple Music, you can do so through the Apple Music app. To do this, open Apple Music on your iPhone or iPad. Press Listen now icon at the bottom, then tap the profile icon at the top right. Press Manage subscription link and then choose Cancel subscription or Cancel free trial on the Edit Subscription page.
Apple Music is also supported on Android. You can cancel the subscription from any Android device, regardless of where you started the subscription in the first place. To do this, open the app and tap the Listen now icon at the bottom. Then tap the three-dot settings icon in the top right corner and select account. Crane Manage subscriptionthen choose Cancel subscription and confirm the cancellation.
Sign out of an app on Mac
You can opt out of an app on a Mac through the System Settings menu (macOS Ventura and later) or System Preferences (macOS Monterey and earlier). Click Apple IDand then select Media and purchases and choose To manage next Subscriptions to access your settings in the App Store.
You can also go directly to the App Store to cancel. Open the App Store app and click your account name in the lower left corner of the window. In your account window, click Account settings. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the To manage link next to it Subscriptions.
Click the Edit next to the app subscription you want to cancel. In the next screen click on the Cancel subscription and then confirm the cancellation.
Sign out of an app through iTunes
If you’re using a Windows computer or still using macOS Catalina on your Mac, you can also cancel subscriptions in iTunes. Open iTunes, click the account menu and select View My Account. Enter your Apple ID password to view your account information. Scroll down to the Institutions section and click the To manage next to the Subscriptions setting.
Click the Edit next to the subscription you want to cancel, then select Cancel subscription. A message appears asking you to confirm that you want to cancel your subscription. Click the To confirm knob.
Unsubscribe via email
If you saved the confirmation email you received when you first subscribed to an app, you can reach the necessary subscription window via email. In the email, click the check your subscription clutch. The Edit Subscription window appears where you can now view and cancel the subscription.
