Standby mode to improve charging experience
A new standby mode provides at-a-glance information when your iPhone is laying down to charge.
This customizable interface displays a clock, calendar, favorite photos, weather forecast, music playback controls, widgets, and more.
StandBy is designed to charge your iPhone on your nightstand, kitchen counter, or desk, and supports Live Activity, Siri, incoming calls, and loud notifications.
It also works with the Always On Display feature available on iPhone 14 Pro and 15 Pro models.
NameDrop, Live Voicemail, and more in iOS 17
iOS 17 also introduces NameDrop, which allows users to share contact information by holding their iPhone close together.
Another feature called Live Voicemail provides real-time transcription on your screen when someone leaves a voicemail.
Swipe to Reply in iMessage allows users to send inline replies by swiping right on a message.
Interactive widgets provide more dynamic content access. Now available on home screen, lock screen, and standby mode.
Enhanced autocorrect, offline maps, and Siri
The new software update includes an improved autocorrect feature to improve word prediction.
Apple Maps has caught up with Google Maps in important features, allowing users to download maps for offline use and improving navigation capabilities.
Stickers Drawer consolidates all your stickers in one place, including Live Stickers, emojis, Memoji, and iMessage sticker packs.
You can now summon the Siri voice assistant by saying “Siri” instead of “Hey Siri.” You can also issue multiple commands without saying “Siri” over and over again.
Check iOS 17 compatible models
The iOS 17 update is compatible with all models of iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, and iPhone 11 series. Also available for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE (2nd generation or later). The latest iPhone 15 series comes with iOS 17.
