Apple is making iPadOS 17 available to users today. One of the most notable features for creators is support for USB-based camera and microphone connections. To take advantage of this feature, Reincubate, the developer of Camo, is releasing Camo Studio for iPad as a free app.

The new app is aimed at content creators and game streamers with features like multi-source picture-in-picture and recording to external drives. The app supports web overlays, spotlights to highlight objects in focus, custom backgrounds, and portrait effects. Like Camo for desktop, the iPad app supports mirroring and rotation controls, as well as auto-framing.

The app also supports Apple Pencil for drawing and annotating content. This is useful for instructors, designers, and artists who display visual content to point out specific artifacts.

Camo Studio for iPad allows you to use your device in several ways. If you just want to stream video, you can do it on the go by connecting an external camera and microphone.

For game streamers, it acts as an external monitor while playing games on a mobile device like the Nintendo Switch. Photographers and videographers will find Camo for iPad useful as an additional display.

Users can also connect their iPad to a game console using a video capture card and stream on platforms like Twitch and YouTube. This saves you the cost of setting up separate systems for gaming and streaming.

According to Reincubate, Camo for iPad offers a streaming canvas in a 16:9 or 9:16 aspect ratio with support for 1440p and 4K resolutions. The app works on any iPad running iPadOS 17 with an A12 chip or later, but requires an M1 or M2 chip to record or stream in the background.

The company said it is working on bringing scene editing, virtual camera support, and mixing multiple audio sources to the iPad app.
