Apple has revealed that iOS 17, with many design improvements and new features, will be available for general download starting September 18th.

The public preview has been available since June and features improvements such as quick audio or video messages, mute/unmute controls for AirPods, voice message transcription, and a host of personalization features.

This update also introduces new features such as live voicemail, standby mode, and a new journal app.

Improve communication efficiency with iOS 17 update

iOS 17 users can take advantage of customizable stickers, set up a contact poster, and benefit from improved autocorrect and audio transcription.

You can now launch Siri without first saying “Hi,” and Live Voicemail displays a live transcript on your screen while your voicemail is being recorded.

A derivative of AirDrop, NameDrop allows users to easily share contact information across two iPhone devices.

Revamped Messages app and home screen widgets

The Messages app in iOS 17 is receiving a significant update with the introduction of stickers.

Users can now attach emoji stickers to messages and create “live stickers” by adding effects and text using content from their camera roll.

Other new features include “Check-in,” which alerts trusted contacts when you’ve safely arrived at your destination, and the ability to share large files via AirDrop.

iOS 17 also adds various widgets to the home screen, lock screen, and standby.

Journal app introduction and compatibility details

The new Journal app in iOS 17 encourages iPhone users to reflect and practice gratitude through journaling.

Improved system spell checking to reduce “ducking” autocorrect errors.

iOS 17 is compatible with many iPhone models from iPhone SE (2nd generation) to iPhone 14 Pro Max. And the newly announced iPhone 15 will launch iOS 17 right away.
