Apple’s iOS 17 includes one of the biggest overhauls to the iPhone’s Phone app in years.
The newly updated Phone app included in the software update includes real-time voicemail transcription, a “Contacts Poster” that allows users to select a photo to display when dialing someone else’s iPhone, and a bolder phone app. An updated user interface with fonts has been added.
But one adjustment would require longtime iPhone users to retrain their muscle memory. In the beta of iOS 17, Apple moved the “end call” button. It has been moved to the bottom right corner instead of centered in the bottom third of the screen.
The iOS 16 red button is between the two iOS 17 buttons. One button turns the call into his FaceTime call, and the other one reveals the iPhone’s dial pad.

Most people don’t have iOS 17 yet. It’s only available in beta and is intended for people willing to help Apple find bugs. It will be available to the general public and everyone’s iPhone in the fall, shortly after the new iPhone models are announced.
It’s not the first time Apple has rearranged its longstanding user interface to place the key buttons closer to the bottom of the phone, making for a more ergonomic placement, especially as phone screens get larger. .
In 2021, Apple changed the Safari browser with the iOS 15 beta, moving the URL bar to the bottom and updating the design. But by the time the final version was released in September, Apple tweaked the design, giving users the option to rollback some changes and return the URL bar to the top of the page.
An Apple representative declined to answer questions about whether the new call screen would be reverted or customizable.
